What is Sex Coaching Like with Marissa?

So, what exactly is sex coaching? Simply put, it’s a personalized process where we work together to explore and improve your sexual well-being. It’s all about getting more pleasure and feeling more fulfilled! Whether you’re struggling with sexual pain, trauma, low libido, mismatched libido between partners, questions about sexual orientation or gender expression, concerns about sexual safety, relationship dynamics, exploring kink, self-pleasure, body image issues, or sexual shame, I’m here to help.

The Initial Consultation
We start with a free initial consultation, where you’ll discuss your struggles and/or goals. Afterwards, you fill out a questionnaire to help me further understand your roadblocks and desires. This step is crucial because it allows us to tailor the sessions to your specific needs. If a questionnaire isn’t very accessible to you, we can always go over the questions in session. You can opt for one-off sessions if you have specific issues to address, or we can create a multiple-session plan based on your goals and desires.

During our sessions, here's what you can typically expect:

  • Listening and Understanding: I will listen to your experiences and feelings around the sexual issues you're facing. This is a safe and non-judgmental space for you to open up.

  • Exploring the Problem: I'll ask questions about the history of the problem to gather all the necessary information to help you effectively.

  • Addressing the Issue: We'll discuss ways to address the problem. This might include knowledge sharing, suggesting videos or homework, learning touch skills, using communication tools, and practicing tools such as breathwork, movement, or self-touch.

  • Empowerment: Throughout our work together, I'll help you move through any shame and become more empowered around your sexual issues.

  • Progress Check: After you’ve done your homework or practice (or we’ve discussed last session’s homework), we’ll check in on your progress. You'll communicate what you’ve learned and how you’re feeling about the issue now.

  • Implementation: Finally, we'll talk about how you can further implement these changes into your life.

Why Work with a Sex Coach?
Society often tells us we're supposed to innately know how to have sex. While the desire is natural, the skills to become a great lover (for ourselves and others) don’t always come naturally. Talking about sex or getting explicit instruction is often taboo, which means many people lack opportunities to learn how to have satisfying sex. A good sex coach provides the feedback and instruction many people never receive.

Here are some reasons to work with a sex coach:

  • Expert Guidance: A sex coach understands both the physiology and psychology of sex and can provide real-time feedback and instruction.

  • Shame Reduction: They help you become aware of and overcome shame about your desires and fantasies.

  • Addressing Sexual Issues: A coach can help with low libido, loss of sex drive, sexual dysfunctions, and other common sexual concerns.

  • Improving Communication: They increase your communication skills to talk with partners about physical and psychological desires.

  • Enhancing Skills: Learn seduction, foreplay, consent skills, and how to navigate boundaries.

  • Healing and Exploration: Whether it's healing from sexual trauma, understanding your sexual or gender identity, or exploring kink and alternative practices, a sex coach supports you through it all.

Moving Forward
Sex coaching is a journey, not a quick fix. It’s about ongoing growth and discovery. Whether we work together for a few sessions or over a longer period, my goal is to empower you to understand and embrace your sexuality fully.

Remember, seeking help and guidance is a courageous step towards a healthier, happier sexual life. If you’re ready to start this journey, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Let’s work together to help you become your most authentic sexual self.

A Quick Note
It's important to note that as a coach, I am not a therapist, and I do not work with insurance. While both coaching and therapy can be beneficial, they serve different purposes. Therapy often focuses on healing emotional wounds, exploring past experiences, and addressing mental health issues, with a more exploratory approach aimed at managing psychological symptoms and resolving emotional distress. On the other hand, coaching is forward-focused, emphasizing goal setting, personal growth, and actionable steps toward achieving specific outcomes. Coaching is about empowerment and developing strategies to overcome obstacles and enhance various aspects of life.

That said, I do incorporate certain therapeutic modalities into coaching sessions when requested, such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), breathwork, and more. These techniques can help clients work through specific emotional blocks and enhance their personal development journey. However, my approach is distinct from traditional therapy, focusing on practical strategies and support to help you achieve your goals and create the life you desire.
