About Me
Hi, I’m Marissa Zumbo (she/they) — a sex educator, life and relationship coach, intimacy coordinator, EMDR practitioner, researcher, meditation teacher, former crisis counselor, and writer. PHEW — what a mouthful. I support people who are struggling with trauma, sex, pleasure, and relationships to (re)discover their sexuality, joy, and sense of self — on their own terms.
My work is deeply personal. I was raped when I was a teenager (in addition to experiencing a lot of nonconsensual touch and unwanted attention as a child). After a solid period of denial (and repression), I began an intensive healing journey through therapy, education, and somatic practices. Along the way, I realized how little most of us are taught about navigating sexual roadblocks, trauma, and the complex layers of intimacy. I first became a sex educator to help myself — and then stayed in the work to help others heal and thrive.
I bring not just training, but lived experience. I’m a pansexual, queer, abled, white, neurodivergent, cisgender (slightly genderqueer) woman. I’ve navigated anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and complex PTSD throughout my life. These parts of my identity shape how I approach this work — with care, empathy, and an understanding that healing is rarely linear.
I also acknowledge that many of my identities afford me privilege. I’m committed to ongoing reflection around how systems of power impact my clients and the communities I serve, and to actively working to dismantle the harm those systems cause.
I currently reside on the unceded land of the Cheyenne, Ute, and Sioux peoples — and I honor the history and resilience of Indigenous communities past and present.
If you're ready to explore pleasure, intimacy, or self-connection with support, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
